Answers to common questions about using Flaret at events.
Flaret uses your location to find events happening near you right now. Check into the event you're at, and you'll see other attendees who are checked in too — you can send them a Flare to break the ice.
Open the Discover tab, allow location access, and pick your event from the list of nearby events. Once you check in, you'll show up to other attendees at that event (unless you've hidden your profile).
A Flare is what you send when someone's profile catches your eye. Your Profile tab shows your Flare balance, and you can buy more via Flare Packs whenever you need them. You can upgrade a Flare to a Power Flare or a Flaret.
When someone sends you a Flare, it shows up in your Flares tab. You can accept it (which creates a match and opens a chat) or pass. If the sender upgrades it within the first 30 seconds, it becomes a Power Flare and rises in your inbox. They can also make it a Flaret — that pins to the very top and includes gift Flares for you if you accept.
A Power Flare is an upgraded Flare that the sender can buy for 2 extra Flares within 30 seconds of sending. It moves near the top of the recipient's inbox and the sender sees a live countdown while the upgrade is still available.
A Flaret is the premium upgrade above a Power Flare — the namesake gesture of the app. It costs 10 Flares from the sender (5 Flaret fee + 5 gift escrow), pins to the very top of your inbox, and if you accept you receive those 5 gift Flares. If you pass, the sender only loses the 5-Flare Flaret fee — the gift escrow is refunded to them.
Profile Boost is a paid upgrade that boosts your profile at your current event for 30 minutes so you appear higher in Discover for other attendees at that event.
Tap your profile picture on the Profile tab, choose “Edit Profile,” and turn on the “Hide my profile” toggle. While hidden, you won't appear on anyone else's Discover grid.
After you finish setting up your profile you can choose “Hide me from my contacts,” or turn it on later in Edit Profile. Flaret reads phone numbers from your address book only to create private codes — we never upload your contact list. People linked this way won't see each other on Discover or Flares. Turn the setting off anytime to delete those codes. On iPhone, if you chose Limited Access, open Settings → Flaret → Contacts and switch to Full Access (or edit selected contacts), then return to the app and tap Manage contact access.
Tap your profile picture on the Profile tab, then “Edit Profile.” You can update your bio (up to 20 words) and add or remove photos (up to 3).
Open your profile picture menu and tap Guidelines, or tap “Safety tips” on the Chats tab. The guidelines cover respectful behavior, meeting in public, and how to report problems. You can also read them on the web: Community Guidelines.
Open their profile and tap the flag icon to report them (you'll get a confirmation of what happens next). You can block anyone from their profile — including people on Discover before you match — so they won't show up again. In a chat, the trash menu lets you Unmatch (leave the conversation) or Delete & Block.
From Support in the App, scroll to “Delete Account” and confirm. Your profile is hidden and your personal info is cleared immediately; the underlying data is permanently erased after a 30-day grace period.
